Class Specific Eligibility Rules for admission

Note: The following eligibility conditions for various classes are the bare minimum as prescribed by the Punjabi University Patiala. Fulfilling these eligibility conditions does not ensure the admission. Admission to all classes is on the basis of merit and cut-off percentage of marks is generally higher.


1. B.Sc-Part 1(Medical, Non-medical):
The student should have passed 12th Standard School Examination from a State/Central Board of Education or Equivalent Examination with Science Subjects securing atleast 45% Marks.

2. B.A-Part 1(Honours School in Economics):
The student should have passed 12th Standard School Examination from a State/Central Board of Education or Equivalent Examination securing atleast 50% Marks in Arts/ Science/ commerce.

3. B.Com-Part 1:
The student should have passed 12th Standard School Examination from a State/Central Board of Education or Equivalent Examination
(a) with Commerce Subjects securing atleast 40% Marks or 
(b) with Maths and Economics securing atleast 45% marks or
(c) with atleast 50% for those who are not covered above under (a) or (b).
The rank list for admission will be prepared as per this eligibility conditions (i.e. The % age of marks obained in 12th Standard Board Exam. will be reduced
(i) by 5% for the students covered under (b) above and 
(ii) by 10% for the students convered under under (c) above.
(iii) No such reduction in %age for the commerce students.

4. B.A-Part-1/B.C.A-Part 1/B.B.A- Part-1:
The student should have passed 12th Standard School Examination from a State/Central Board of Education or Equivalent Examination.

5. M.A-Part 1(History):
The student should have passed Graduation Examination from a recognised University securing atleast 50.0 % Marks in aggregate and atleast 50.0% Marks in the subject of History or Defence Studies.The rank list for admission is prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the Subject of History/Defence Studies at graduation level.
6.M.A-Part 1(Political Science):
The student should have passed Graduation Examination from a recognised University securing atleast 50.0 % Marks in aggregate and atleast 50.0% Marks in the subject of Political Science. The rank list for admission is prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the Subject of Political Science at graduation level.
7. M.A-Part 1(Philosophy):
The student should have passed Graduation Examination from a recognised University securing atleast 45.0 % Marks in aggregate in any stream.
8. M.Sc-Part 1(Mathematics):
The student should have passed Graduation Examination from a recognised University securing atleast 50.0 % Marks in aggregate and atleast 50.0% Marks in the subject of Mathematics. The rank list for admission is prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the Subject of Mathematiics at graduation level.
9. M.Sc-Part 1(Physics):
The student should have passed Graduation Examination from a recognised University securing atleast 50.0 % Marks in aggregate and atleast 50.0% Marks in the subject of Physics. The rank list for admission is prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the Subject of Physics at graduation level.
