General Rules/Guidelines for Admission

  • Every admission to entry class will be done purely on merit prepared on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in lower examination.
  • All admissions will be as per the rules and regulations of the Punjabi University Patiala.
  • Students belonging to SC category will be given a relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility condition of  percentage of marks fixed by the Punjabi University Patiala.  
Reservation of Seats for entry classes(Part-I of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses):
The Govt. Rajindra College Bathinda follows the reservation Policy of Punjab Government vide its letter No. 11/53/92-6 Edu.I/9729,9938 dated 10.05.2002 and 15-05-2002. The percentage of seats reserved for different categories is as follows:

  1. Scheduled Caste, Scheduled tribes     25%
  2. Backward Classes/OBC  10% (Reference: DPI (colleges) Punjab Letter No. 11/6-2017 ਅ (6)/752 dated, Chandigarh : 17-04-17) [The persons belonging to creamy layer are not entitled to the reservation under BC/OBC as per Notification No. 1/41/93 RS1/209 Government of Punjab, Department of Welfare dated 24-02-2009.
    The rule of exclusion will apply to sons and daughters of
    (a) Persons having gross annual income of Rs. 6.0 lakh or above or possessing wealth above the exemption limit as prescribed in the Wealth Tax Act for period three consecutive years;
    (b) Persons in Categories I, II, III and IV who are not disentitled to the benefit of reservation but have income from other sources of wealth which will bring them within the income/wealth criteria mentioned in (a) above.
    Explanation: Income from salaries or agricultural land shall not be clubbed.]
  3. Children/Widows of Defence Personnel  2%
    [Children/Widows of defence personnel killed or disabled to the extent of 50% or more in action, wards of gallantry awardees, Ex-Servicemen and children of serving defence personnel/ Exservicemen.]
  4. Wards of Armed/ paramilitary/ CRPF/ BSF/ Punjab Police Personnel (Died during service/ Serving/ Retired)      2%    [Children/Widows of para-military forces personnel, Punjab Police, PAP, and Punjab Home Guards killed or disabled in action to the extent of 50% or more, ex-para-military forces personnel and children of serving para-military forces personnel/ex-paramilitary forces personnel].
  5. Differently abled students      3%       [a) Blind 1% b) Deaf & Dumb1% c) Other handicapped 1%
    If suitable candidates are not available in any one of these sub-categories of disabled candidates or are not found suitable for the particular course, the seats so available will be filled up by the candidates from the other sub-categories of disabled candidates.]
  6. Sports persons   2%
  7. Teachers' wards and wards of employees in education department   2%
  8. Ward of (a) 100% disabled persons during actions of terrorist/Security Forces, Ward of External/Internal/Sikh migrant   2%. (Certificate for this reserve category should be signed/ issued by Deputy Commissioner of the district.)
  9. Wards of freedom fighters   2%
  10. Rural Students (additional seats)*   10%
*Students who have passed their 10th/12th class examination from a rural school and have studied in that school for at least five years are eligible to apply for the 10% extra seats reserved for them. Students must produce the Rural Area Education Certificate in the given format, duly signed by the headmaster/principal ( and counter signed by the Tehsildar or SDM at the time of interview.
  1. Single Girl Child additional Seats in all the courses at entry level(UG and PG)
  2. In all Eight (08) additional seats are reserved for the students who participate in youth festivals in all the classes at entry level (Part-1 of undergraduate and postgraduate classes). The merit for admission to these seats is prepared as per university rules.The admission against these seats is done by a duly constituted committee by the principal. (Ref. University letter no. 40284100 O.S/College dated 4th July 2003.)
  3. Two (02) seats in each course shall be reserved under Supernumerary quota for students of Jammu & Kashmir 
Please note that:
  • COMPETENT AUTHORITY TO ISSUE VARIOUS CERTIFICATES:
    A candidate applying for admission under category (i) i.e. against the seats reserved for Scheduled Casts/Scheduled Tribes category shall be considered provided he/she produces a Certificate signed by the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner/Additional Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Collector/First Class Stipendary Magistrate/City Magistrate/Sub Divisional Magistrate/Talika Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner (not below the rank of 1st Class Stipendary Magistrate). Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar as per U.O. No. 10/2/96-2 SWI/11-12-13-14 dated, Chd. 8.1.99. or as per Punjab Government notification Nos. 1/3/95-PPII/7332 and 1/3/95-3PII/10377 dated 14.06.1999 and 18.08.2000 and 1/8/07-RC1/853 dated 29-06-2009.
  • The certificates for reserve categories should be signed by SDM except for the Sikh migrant families category, which should have been issued by Deputy Commissioner of the district.
  • The Backward Class Certificate should not be older than three years.. A candidate applying for admission under category (ii) i.e. against the seats reserved for Backward Classes/OBC category shall be considered provided he/she produces income certificates of parents along with Backward Class/OBC Certificate signed by appropriate authority as per latest instructions of the Punjab Government.
  • Certificates for reservation should have been issued on or before the date of interview.
  • Students who fail to produce the Certificate duly singed by the competent authority at the time of interview will not be considered for admission.
  1. Every New student seeking admission to any Class will have to fill up new admission form online before the dead line given on website.
  2.  Every candidate should register online on the college website www.grcb.ac.in/ himself/herself by the prescribed date as notified on the website. After the closing date no registration will be possible. This rule will be applicable to old students of this college also.
  3. Every admission to entry class will be done purely on merit basis.
  4.  A student can apply online for admission for one class without any Charges. A registeration fee @ Rs. 10/- per additional class applied online is charged along with admission fee if one applies for more than one class at entry level in respect of different faculties (Medical, Non-Medical, Commerce, Arts, etc.
  5. The candidates will have to deposit their fee on the same day after the decision of the admission committee using his/her Debit Card/credit card/internet banking using online mode only on college website www.grcb.ac.in clicking the payment link. No cash or cheque will be accepted for payment of fee. No  bank challan will be issued. In case any student does not deposit his/her fee timely, his/her seat will be given to the next candidate in waiting list.
  6. Those students who had failed/reverted in University/Board examination, not appeared in the examination,  left the papers or not joined any college in the previous years  or do not fulfill the University  conditions will not be considered for admission.
  7. Only those students will be considered for admission in sports quota who participated in National or university games atleast representing their district/college and who fulfil the Punjabi University/Punjab Govt. rules for participation in games.
  8. The candidate whose result is declared later than others, can seek admission within 10 days of the date mentioned on the result card provided he/she fulfills all the other conditions regarding admission, got himself/herself registered and the seat is vacant.
  9. The students of this college will be admitted to the next class namely B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/BBA/BCA  (Part II & III) and M.A.Part-II on priority basis as per the university rules.
  10. The students of other colleges, who have obtained minimum 60% marks in the previous uni. exams, can be admitted in B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/B.Com (Honors)/BBA/BCA   (Part-II & III) and M.A.Part-II against vacant seats on the basis of merit with the permission of principal.
  11. The principal can refuse admission or re-admission in the college to any student in the interest of the college.
  12. Candidates having gap in their study periods for an year or more are generally not considered for admission to B.A/B.Com. In case the seats are vacant, the admission to such candidates can be given in M.A/M.Sc/B.Sc(Med. & Non-med).
